THE WEBBY DEBATES: SOCIAL MEDIA IS OVERRATED
November 30, 2010 at CNN Studios New York, NY
Social Media is everywhere. For example, if Facebook were a country, it would be the third largest in the world. With over 350 million (and counting) active users, Facebook is at the forefront of the social media landscape. While social media used to be dismissed as a recreational platform for the average user, it has catapulted into one of the most crucial tools for advertisers, brands, companies and organizations around the world. Social media feels literally inescapable in this day and age. But is it absolutely necessary? What makes it so vital to individuals and companies alike, and could you live without it? Isn't it overrated.
In the second installment of the Webby Debates, we welcome Gary Vaynerchuk of Wine Library TV and Paul Carr, columnist at Techcrunch.com to showcase the pros and cons of using social media in business, personal life, and otherwise. Laurie Segall of CNNMoney will moderate this timely issue.
