A: There are two new things this year.

• Firstly, all winners in attendance will get to record a 5-word speech via our new, specially designed video kiosk. We've joined forces with YouTube who will promote all the speeches and gala footage on a custom-made Webby Awards YouTube Channel for the world to see.

• Secondly, we are reducing the amount of winners that are called to the stage. Three groups of categories -- around 50 total winners -- will get to come to the stage throughout the evening to deliver their 5 word acceptance speeches.

A: In a word, yes!

What started as a humble Web award thirteen years ago is now the largest award of its kind in the world. In 1996, there were only 15 Webby Awards categories -- and possibly even fewer active Web pages -- and as the Internet has grown over the last 13 years, so have we.

To put it simply, a bigger Internet meant a (much) longer award show. Last year's Webby Awards Gala was 1324kb over the file size limit!

A: There are three ways to get on stage as a winner:

1. BE VOTED INTO THE PEOPLE'S VOICE TOP 10

If your category received the most votes in this year's Webby People's Voice Awards, you will be get to be on stage. (However if we call your name at the show and you don't turn up, Seth Meyers will make jokes at your expense).

2. BE (INTERNET) FAMOUS

Tell us why you are Webby enough for a spot in the limelight. You're awesome -- you make things move on screen using numbers!

The top submissions will be announced May 19, 2009 via an email to winners and on webbyawards.com. Get in touch and lobby us at pickme@webbyawards.com by May 15.

3. BE CHOSEN BY "THE RANDOMIZER" AT THE GALA

We haven't created the Randomizer technology yet, but we're pretty sure we're going to patent it. A team of creative geniuses are currently working with the sole goal of creating something that will best the Plinko board from "The Price is Right."

15 winners in attendance will be randomly called to the stage to give their speeches, live on June 8, 2009 at the Gala.

A: Not at all. Every winner is equal at the Webby Awards, and everyone has a chance to get on stage so long as you are in the room. Even if you've won 5 Webbys, the Randomizer remains unbiased! But remember, you will only have the chance to go onstage once.

A: YES! All winners who attend the Gala will get to record a 5-word speech in our new, specially designed video kiosk. This year, we've joined forces with YouTube who will promote all the speeches and gala footage on a custom-made Webby Awards YouTube Channel for the world to see, starting the next day.

A: Absolutely! This night always was and will always be about YOU. Winners and their guests get to celebrate their well-deserved victories with cocktails, dinner and entertainment at the world famous Cipriani Wall Street, and rub shoulders with some of the biggest names in media, technology and entertainment on the Web. And don't forget about our opening Sunset Cocktails on Sunday, June 7 at Above Allen, plus the Official Webby Gala After-Party at Hiro Ballroom.
