A bigger Internet means more kinds of websites, so we had to create more categories. When the Webbys started in 1996 the Internet was about 15 categories big. Since then, the exponential growth of the Web -- and of the industries utilizing it -- has exploded. Unfortunately, that meant longer awards shows. Last year's webby awards gala was 1324KB over our file-size limit!

If your category received the most votes in this year's Webby People's Voice Awards, you will get to be onstage. However, if we call your name and you didn't show up, Seth Meyers will make jokes at your expense.
