Yesterday on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Emmy and WGA Award-nominated comedian Amber Ruffin announced that she’s returning to host The Webby Awards, in New York City on Monday, May 13! Following her hilarious performance at the 2018 Webby Awards, Ruffin is back at the Internet’s biggest night.
The Emmy and WGA Award-nominated comedian lit up the stage at her last stint at The Webbys—from a quippy intro for David Letterman to explaining blockchain with a pair of drums.
Since then, Ruffin has continued to entertain millions worldwide by writing and performing for NBC’s “Late Night,” and premiering her series, “The Amber Ruffin Show.” Being a multi-talented writer, Ruffin is part of the creative team for Broadway’s revival of “The Wiz” and co-wrote the Broadway rendition of “Some Like It Hot.” A pioneer in her own right, Ruffin was the first African-American woman to write for a late-night talk show in the U.S.
Her humor is raw and honest, an irreverent reflection of Internet culture. We cannot wait to see what she has in store for us at the 28th Annual Webby Awards. Take a look at the announcement below and dive into her best moments from the 2018 Webby Awards Show.
And stay tuned — the 2024 Webby Awards Nominees are Announced April 2nd!
