As one of the top-ranked countries in the 2019 International Webby Winner Index, France is home to the world’s best digital projects, and the creatives behind the work. Recently, we highlighted the five top-performing French companies in last season’s competition, however there many more projects deserving of praise. 

At The Webbys we continuously recognize the teams creating the world’s leading online work. So we’ve rounded up 9 of our favorite projects from France that have been honored at The Webby Awards over the last few years.

2019 Webby Winner: Game or Application (Advertising)

La Forêt – Bet on a Murderer racked up multiple Webby honors at the 23rd Annual Webby Awards. The interactive experience let any audience member bet on who was the show’s murderer in real-time.

Reversible Story by ROSAPARK

2018 Webby Nominee: Best Use of Video (Social) 

This Webby-nominated project took to social media to dispute stereotypes about breast cancer—from if those impacted impacted ever feel confident again to how to maintain their “femininity.”  `

Label of Love by ROSAPARK

2018 Webby Winner: Long Form (Video)

Cuteness overload. To celebrate French supermarket Monaprix’s 85th birthday, Rosapark told the story of a young boy declaring his schoolyard love by cutting slogans out of Monaprix products.

#StopThisMovie - Genocide in Burundi by We Are Social

2018 Webby Nominee: Best Cause Related Campaign (PR)

We Are Social‘s Webby-nominated project cleverly uses the lens of popular cinema about suffering in African countries (think: Blood Diamond) to sound the alarm on violence happening in Burundi.

The Virtual Crash Billboard by SERVICEPLAN FRANCE

2018 Webby Winner: Integrated Campaigns (Advertising) 

How do you make people understand the severity of crossing the street during red lights? Simulate the fear of getting hit, without touching them, and put their reactions on a billboard. This poignant project by Serviceplan France took home a Webby nominated at the 22nd Annual Webbys.

Like My Addiction by BETC

2017 Webby Winner: Best Media Strategy (Advertising)

BETC sent a warning about watching the signs of alcoholism in this 2017 Webby-winning project. One Instagram users tells the story of her friends and followers passively approving her partying through validation on social media.

Bury Me My Love by The Pixel Hunt

2018 Webby Nominee: Best Writing (Games)

Sometimes games can shed light on important crises. The Pixel Hunt’s project tells the story of one character, Nour, fleeing conflict in Syria to reach Europe. As you play, you find out why she needed to leave in the first place, in an effort to spark empathy.

Rogue One: a Star Wars Story by FCINQ

2017 People’s Voice Winner: Integrated Mobile Experience (Mobile) 

This incredibly cool project by FCINQ was a robust mobile game to get players excited for upcoming the Star Wars movie. Play to join the rebellion—they need you.

Google Escape by We are Social / Google France

2017 Webby Winner: Best Event (Advertising)

We Are Social and Google France teamed up to showcase the depth and breadth of Google products—while having a little fun—by creating the first ever Google Escape Room.
