NEW YORK, April 20, 2021 – The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) today announced the Nominees for The 25th Annual Webby Awards which include Amazon, Adobe, CNN, Disney, Google, Headspace, Hulu, Mailchimp, Marvel Entertainment, Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty, Spotify, The Root, Wondery, and UNICEF as well as some of the year’s most talked-about personalities, including Cardi B, Brené Brown, Rosalía, Bubba Wallace, Kevin Bacon, Shaquille O’Neal, Jennifer Garner, Rob Gronkowski, Sir David Attenborough, Naomi Osaka, Ryan Reynolds, Martin Lawrence, Noah Schnapp, James Corden, LeBron James, Barack Obama, Stephen Colbert, Chris Evans, Moses Sumney, John Mayer and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.  

All Nominees are eligible to win the Internet industry’s two most prestigious awards: The Webby Award, selected by the Academy, and The Webby People’s Voice Award, voted on by Internet fans around the world at http://vote.webbyawards.com. Voting for The Webby People’s Voice Awards is open now until Thursday, May 6, at 11:59 PM (PT)

Webby Nominees are selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. This past year saw the unprecedented acceleration of virtual engagement caused by COVID-19. To honor the creative and innovative ways that people stayed connected through the Internet, The Webbys announced Nominees across a new suite of Virtual & Remote categories for virtual events, remote experiences and VR & 360. Webby Nominees across Virtual & Remote include: Global Citizen’s One World: Together at Home, the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, Adobe MAX, Rock the Runoff Virtual Concert, Vote With Us Virtual Rally and The Daily Social Distancing Show with Trevor Noah.

Podcasts had another big year, further demonstrating consumer demand for compelling storytelling—even when a morning commute was taken out of the mix for a majority of listeners. Webby Nominees in Podcasts include: Dr. Death: Season 2 by Wondery, Under the Skin with Russell Brand by Luminary, Wind of Change by Spotify Studios, Land of the Giants: The Netflix Effect by Vox Media, Our America with Julián Castro by Lemonada Media, Office Ladies by Earworlf and America Dissected: Coronavirus by Crooked Media. This was also an important year for Podcast series that celebrate and promote diversity and inclusion. Winners for The 25th Annual Webby Awards will be announced on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, culminating with a Internet celebration hosted by actress, advocate and host Jameela Jamil. Fans will be able to watch the star-studded, virtual show on-demand featuring special moments, and hallmark 5-Word Speeches from all the Winners, on Tuesday, May 18 at www.webbyawards.com.
