Describe your nominated project—give us your elevator pitch.
The Walking Dead is the number one show across all of television among young adults, spawning its own highly popular after-show devoted solely to catering to its audience of (ahem) rabid fans, Talking Dead. Every week, host Chris Hardwick brings together a rotating series of guests which include the show-runner, executive producers, key cast members and celebrity super-fans of the show. For this past season of Talking Dead, we introduced a new way for fans at home to interact with the show in real time: Play Dead.
What inspired you most to follow your dreams/vision while working on this project?
We’re constantly exploring ways to draw more and more fans directly into the experience of interacting in real-time with Chris and guests about The Walking Dead and their obsession with the show. That desire to draw the circle of insane fandom tighter led us to work with Megaphone to create a real-time digital-to-live-TV interactive experience.
When did you first know that this work was going to be something special?
When over 100,000 viewers started gleefully participated every week, we knew we got it right.
