For one night only, The Webby Awards and Meta shut down Meta Lab New York for the Webby Wonderland Holiday Party on Wednesday, December 10. An exclusive experience, the night brought together the city’s top creators to mix, mingle, and celebrate the holidays.
The night was designed for the Internet’s most creative minds. It was a toast to the creators who power New York City’s creative scene.
Some of the amazing people in the room include Nick Kosir, Matt Newman (a.k.a. @mattloveshair), Lindsey Katon, Nimay Ndolo, Victoria Ortega, Gia Armani, Greyson Hoelzel, Tyreak Hopkins, and so many more.
It started with opening remarks from Webby General Manager, Nick Borenstein, and Nicola Mendelsohn, the Head of Global Business Group at Meta.
Honored as one of the 30 Most Iconic Companies on the Internet, this collaboration with Meta wove their historic legacy of innovating new platforms and technologies into the Webby Awards’ creator community.
Creators rushed to try the new tech all around them. Creators experimented with the range of Meta glasses while chatting about how they’d use them in their future projects. The new Lab pop-up featured their latest AI products, from the first and second-generation Ray-Ban Meta Glasses to the Oakley Meta Vanguard pair.
From demos on taking pictures and videos to experimenting with Meta AI, it was a fantastic night of exploration. Inspiration was brimming as all of NYC’s top creators were in the same room, exploring new ways to create content online.
Conversations around the stacked demo stations sparked inspiration for everything from POV recipe shoots to vlogs.
“The glasses are an important part of a creator’s journey,” said Wuraola Adegboye, one part of the duo in @kimchixjollof. “I’m in lifestyle; I’m in cooking. Sometimes I want to do a different POV apart from my phone. Having that dual camera is really lovely. I’m looking forward to seeing how this expands.”
As more creators funnelled in, they tested the gear, swapped tips, and compared favorite features. By the end of the night, creators featured on FYPs across the city filled the room, sharing behind-the-scenes moments from the party in real time.
Endless canapés and cocktails fueled conversations between fashion creators, comedians, tech experts, and everyone in between. A true holiday moment for the city’s creative class, it was an exciting collision of creativity and technical flair.
