Amber Ruffin Returns to Host The Webby Awards

Amber Ruffin—multi-talented comedian, writer, and performer—is hosting the star-studded 28th Annual Webby Awards show on May 13th in New York City!

Yesterday on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Emmy and WGA Award-nominated comedian Amber Ruffin announced that she’s returning to host The Webby Awards, in New York City on Monday, May 13! Following her hilarious performance at the 2018 Webby Awards, Ruffin is back at the Internet’s biggest night.

The Emmy and WGA Award-nominated comedian lit up the stage at her last stint at The Webbys—from a quippy intro for David Letterman to explaining blockchain with a pair of drums.

Since then, Ruffin has continued to entertain millions worldwide by writing and performing for NBC’s “Late Night,” and premiering her series, “The Amber Ruffin Show.” Being a multi-talented writer, Ruffin is part of the creative team for Broadway’s revival of “The Wiz” and co-wrote the Broadway rendition of “Some Like It Hot.” A pioneer in her own right, Ruffin was the first African-American woman to write for a late-night talk show in the U.S.

Her humor is raw and honest, an irreverent reflection of Internet culture. We cannot wait to see what she has in store for us at the 28th Annual Webby Awards. Take a look at the announcement below and dive into her best moments from the 2018 Webby Awards Show.

And stay tuned — the 2024 Webby Awards Nominees are Announced April 2nd!

Amber Ruffin’s Best Moments from the 2018 Webby Awards Show

Amber Ruffin—multi-talented comedian, writer, and performer—is hosting the star-studded 28th Annual Webby Awards show on May 13th in New York City!

Amber Ruffin’s Opening Monologue

Ruffin kicked off the 22nd Annual Webby Awards with a witty monologue, hilariously recapping the most viral moments of 2018 (think #WhoBitBeyonce).

A Heartwarmingly Quippy Intro for David Letterman

Ruffin put her signature tongue-in-cheek tone aside, giving David Letterman a touching introduction that paid tribute to his iconic legacy in comedy.

Breaking Blockchain Down by Drums

Dressed as drum icon Sheila E., Ruffin broke into song to explain how blockchain works. She never really got to the song, but check out how she broke it down without any jargon or being verbose (first-of-its-kind in 2018).

Going Solo in “The Amber Ruffin Show”

On top of continuing to write some of the best bits on “Late Night,” Ruffin launched her own talk show, “The Amber Ruffin Show.” Watch as Ruffin goes through the week’s biggest headlines, offering unfiltered and laugh-out-loud commentary.
