Webby 5WordSpeech Crowdsourcing Day 101

Bring your best five words, and help your favorite Webby Winners craft their 5-Word Acceptance Speeches. Join us on Twitter, Wednesday, May 1st at 1pm EDT.

On Wednesday, May 1st at 1pm EDT, we’re inviting the 2024 Webby Winners to ask their fans to help craft their speech during the 5-Word Speech Challenge!

The star-studded 28th Annual Webby Awards Show, hosted by Amber Ruffin takes place on Monday, May 13th! That day, Webby Winners around the world will share 5-Word Speeches.

A 5-Word Acceptance Speech is the hallmark of the Webby Awards; each year, Webby Winners from around the world share their speeches, both online and on the Webbys stage. Crafting a great acceptance speech with just five words is no easy feat. It’s a lot harder than it seems, and Webby Winners could use a little help.

That’s where the Internet comes in.

If you’re a Webby Winner:  Join fellow winners, like Kerry Washington, Rare Beauty and more, in tweeting your fans to help craft your 5-Word Speech! What you get back could land you on the Webby Stage.

Some of our most iconic speeches have been crowdsourced, like 2022 Webby Winner LeVar Burton’s 5-Word Speech, “Butterfly in the sky, bitches” and 2019 Webby Winner Mr. Wash’s five words, “Enough. In the past, Webby Winners like Kim Kardashian, The Simpsons, Pod Save the People’s DeRay Mckesson, David Harbour, Mueller, She Wrote, And That’s Why We Drink, and more have participated.

Search 5-Word Speech on X/Twitter, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, and more @TheWebbyAwards on Wednesday, May 1st at 1pm EDT. We’ll be retweeting, and tweet at your favorite Webby Winners with your suggestion of the best five words to deliver.
