Voting for People’s Voice Awards Begins Today
NEW YORK, April 5, 2016 – The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) today announced the Nominees for the 20th Annual Webby Awards, and Straight Outta (R/GA), Taco Bell: Taco Emoji Engine (Deutsch), #Selflessie (Saatchi & Saatchi LA), Love Has No Labels (R/GA) and I Am A Witness (Moonbot Studios) are among those recognized this year for excellence in the Interactive Advertising & Media category.
With an impressive 14 Webby nominations, 72andSunny leads all agencies in nominations this year, and is joined by R/GA (13), BBDO New York (9), Wieden+Kennedy (7), Saatchi & Saatchi (7) and AKQA (6) in primary contention for Webby “Agency of the Year,” presented to the agency that performs best across all Webby Award categories.
Some of the most popular digital, guerilla and viral marketing campaigns this year include House of Cards – FU 2016 (BBH NY), Madden NFL 16 Campaign (Heat) and Kids Read Mean Tweets (john st.). Nike Digital Retail Experience (Demodern) and Zac Posen x Made With Code LED Dress (72andSunny) are both nominated for Best User Experience, while Mr. Robot Live Debt Deletion (ISL) and Spotify Singles (Razorfish NY) are battling for Best Brand Strategy. Campaigns for popular streaming media sites include Hulu “Thanks for Cancelling” (twofifteenmccann), Netflix Socks (deeplocal), Neymar Jr. Crazy Skills (Bascule Inc.) and Spotify Year in Music 2015 (Stinkdigital).
With agencies embracing virtual reality (VR) and increasingly incorporating dynamic, interactive content into online advertising campaigns and branded content, The Webby Awards have introduced a series of new VR-related categories this year. Nominees include ABCNews’ Inside Syria, CNN’s VR at the Democratic Debate, Stella Artois’ Buy a Lady a Drink and Insidious Chapter 3: Into the Future.
Academy judges like Droga5’s David Droga, Pereira & O’Dell’s PJ Pereira, Google’s Anna Patterson, McCann Worldgroup’s John Mescall and Wieden+Kennedy’s Colleen DeCourcy will select The Webby Award Winners, and the industry at large will also decide who takes home a Webby by voting in The Webby People’s Voice Awards. Last year, Internet enthusiasts cast over two million votes. Voting is open now until Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 11:59 PM (PT) at http://pv.webbyawards.com.

This year’s Webby Awards received nearly 13,000 entries from all 50 U.S. States and more than 70 countries worldwide. From the thousands of global entries submitted to The Webby Awards, only 8% were selected as Nominees. Winners will be recognized at a special ceremony held at Cipriani Wall Street on Monday, May 16, 2016.
The 20th Annual Webby Awards show will be available on demand at webbyawards.com the morning of Tuesday, May 17 and The Webby Awards video channel will feature all the show highlights, including special performances and all the hallmark Winner 5-Word Speeches.
