New York (May 4, 2007) – The Webby Awards today announced the launch of “Webby In-Motion,” a contest, sponsored by Adobe Systems, that challenges Adobe users to take “creative license” in designing motion graphics for this year’s Webby Awards ceremony.

The grand prize winner will receive a trip to New York City to see their work featured at The 11th Annual Webby Awards Gala on June 5, 2007.

Hailed as the “OSCARS® of the Internet” by the New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international honor for Web and mobile sites, interactive advertising, and online film and video. Previous year’s attendees have included Vice President Al Gore, music legend Prince, Arianna Huffington and the founders of MySpace, Craigslist, and Flickr.

The Webby In-Motion contest gives anyone equipped with Adobe® software and a creative vision the opportunity to produce the twenty second videos, or interstitials that will be used to introduce key categories throughout The 11th Webby Awards ceremony. Under the contest guidelines, each entry must be inspired by one of the following ten topics with a premium placed on creative license.

  • Connections (Blogs, Social Networking, etc.)
  • Entertainment (Art, Games, etc.)
  • Features (Best Visual Design, Best Home Page, etc.)
  • Living (Lifestyle, Health, etc.)
  • Marketplace (Automotive, Retail, etc.)
  • Media (Music, Film, etc.)
  • Services (Banking, Bill Paying, Travel, etc.)
  • Society (Activism, Politics, etc.)
  • Interactive Advertising
  • Mobile

One winning video will be selected for each of the ten topic clusters, under which the 100 Webby Awards are divided. Of these ten finalists, a grand prize winner will be selected and awarded with the special honor of attending the awards gala event in New York City. Also included will be airfare and accommodations for two, plus a copy of the new Adobe® Creative Suite® 3 Master Collection software, combining the best professional creative tools from Adobe with exceptional integration and productivity.

“This contest demonstrates that Adobe Systems is more than just a Webby Awards sponsor,” said David-Michel Davies, executive director of The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences and The Webby Awards. “Adobe has long been at the forefront of providing the tools and inspiration that have allowed innovation and creativity to flourish on the Web.”

The Webby Awards is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global organization with over 550 members including musician David Bowie, Virgin Group founder Richard Branson, Internet inventor and Google Chief Internet Evangelist Vinton Cerf, “Simpsons” creator Matt Groening, Real Networks CEO Rob Glaser, and fashion designer Max Azria.
