NEW YORK, April 7, 2015 – The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) today announced the Nominees for the 19th Annual Webby Awards, including Vice, Tinder, Vine, Monument Valley, Product Hunt and Refinery 29 and Tumblr as well as some of the year’s most talked-about celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres, Jimmy Kimmel, Key & Peele, Zach Galifianakis, Tyler Oakley, Michelle Phan and Kevin Hart.

The public has a chance to cast their votes for their pick of the best of the Internet at http://pv.webbyawards.com. Voting for the Webby People’s Voice Awards is open from now until Thursday, April 23 at 11:59PM/PST.

Academy members, including Conan O’Brien, Tumblr founder David Karp, Arianna Huffington, YouTube sensation and video artist Freddie Wong, Internet inventor Vint Cerf, and DoSomething.org founder Nancy Lublin, will select this year’s Webby Awards Winners, to be announced Monday, April 27.

“This year’s Nominees are moving Internet culture – and society – forward through their sophisticated technology, sleek user design, and social influence,” said David-Michel Davies, Executive Director of The Webby Awards. “Each of this year’s Nominees are raising the bar in their respective categories and we are excited for the public to weigh in with their votes for this year’s Webby People’s Voice Winners.”

Webby Nominees include some of the world’s most hilarious and viral videos; Zach Galifianakis’ Between Two Ferns interview of President Obama is nominated in Long Form Comedy alongside College Humor’s If Google Was a Guy, Jimmy Kimmel’s Mean Tweets, Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, and Kids React by The Fine Bros.

Nominees like Beats Music, iHeartRadio, SoundCloud, Pandora and Spotify highlight how the Internet and mobile technology continues to disrupt the music industry. Webby Nominated artists like Coldplay, OK Go and Cut Copy use technology and the Web in ever more sophisticated ways to connect with fans and enhance their artistic expression.

Website Nominees like The New York Times, TIME, CNN, The Guardian, National Geographic, Tumblr demonstrate the shift toward marrying the written word with vivid imagery and interactive content to offer a more compelling experience for visitors. And with consumers increasingly turning to their mobile phones to get up-to-the-minute news and updates, publishers including Al Jazeera America, BuzzFeed, Los Angeles Times, Mashable and NYTNow were recognized for creating superior user mobile experiences.

Many of the Online ads nominated in the Interactive Advertising and Media category received millions of YouTube views and social media shares, including #LikeAGirl (Leo Burnett Toronto), “The Game Before the Game” (R/GA), “The World’s Toughest Job” (Mullen), and “HBO: Awkward Family Viewing” (SS+K).

This year’s Webby Awards received nearly 13,000 entries from all 50 U.S. states and over 60 countries worldwide. From the thousands of global entries submitted to The Webby Awards, less than 8% were selected as nominees.
