30th Annual Webby Awards December 9, 2025

How NYC Showed Up for “Where New York Makes It”

For New York City's 400th birthday, we invited creators to take us inside the rooms where they create for "Where New York Makes It," a first-of-its-kind campaign from The Webby Awards.

Last Week, we created a 24-hour portrait of NYC creativity with “Where New York Makes It.” This citywide campaign spotlighted the real spaces where creators, artists, brands, and New Yorkers bring their ideas to life.

Along with our partners at NYC Tourism and the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, quintessential city voices like the Empire State Building revealed where they make content. Creators across the city shared quick POV videos that opened the doors to their creative worlds.

Below, take a rare behind-the-scenes look at where creatives make it in NYC. It all started with the Webby team giving a look into some of the spaces where we create.

NYC Icons Join In

Our partners at NYC Tourism gave an inside look at where they were filming content for their socials that day. From the Brooklyn Bridge, the team showed where they were doing street interviews with tourists walking across.

The Empire State Building also jumped in from the top of the famed New York landmark, giving us a peek into the one-of-a-kind location where they film their hilarious TikToks.

Some of NYC’s most-followed creators opened their doors to spotlight where they bring their corners of the Internet to life. Lindsey Katon (a.k.a. @lindseybakedthis) revealed the setup she uses to film her instantly-viral baking videos. Sam Kochman, the comedian and content creator, created a reel of some of her most-watched TikToks and clips of her making content in the city.

Izzy Anaya opened the doors to her Upper East Side world, where she creates her signature “rich housewife” satire. And Rawlins brought us to the scene where he films his viral dance videos (yes, with the Swiffer).

My content wouldn’t be possible without the inspiration, grit, and rooftops of New York City! @The Webby Awards is partnering with @NYC Tourism to highlight the amazing creativity that creators in the city amplify! Can’t believe I get to call this rooftop my workspace, and I get to spread joy to people every day. #wherenycmakesit #nyc #creator #dance #fyp

The Creative Class

NYC’s design and creative studios also revealed where they bring big ideas to life. Base Design, the global consulting and creative agency, opened its doors to the studio. Their team gave a quick look into the space where they create sharp branding for clients worldwide with the words “We Work Where It Never Sleeps.”

Elen Gasparyan, Webby Judge and Creative Director of Davel Creative Agency, presented both where she judges work and where we celebrate Winners (in NYC). And Hoff Studios, the full-service creative studio, walked through the podcast studio where they craft their distinctive audio projects.

Where Impact is Made

Beyond entertainment and design, creators using their platforms for impact joined in. Mychal Threets, the beloved literacy advocate, shared flicks of where he creates content championing books and community connection from the New York Public Library.

Corey Gutch, the co-founder and principal of the creative studio Civilization, gave a peek into his workspace, which doubles as his kitchen. This dynamic corner is where he leads the team as they develops projects at the intersection of art and social change.

Going over to Brooklyn, Groundswell brought us to their Gowanus studio, where they conduct mural and art programs that give youth artists a space to spark creativity, collaborate on ideas, and use their voices for social change.
