The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. Established in 1996 during the Web’s infancy, The Webbys is presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, which is comprised of over 3000+ leading Internet experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries and entertainers.
In each of the 100+ categories, there are two chances to win a Webby Award. The Academy vote will choose a Winner in each category based on judges’ review and analysis of the Nominees. These entries will receive a Webby Award. Additionally, the online community, through a public vote, will choose a Winner in each category. These entries receive a Webby People’s Voice Award.
The Academy will select the five (5) best entries in each category based on review and analysis using specific judging criteria. After being audited by our vote tabulation consultants, these five selections are then recognized as Webby Nominees.
As a result of the high quantity and quality of entrants, The Webby Awards honors additional outstanding entries alongside our Nominees and Winners as Official Honorees. Being selected as an Official Honoree means an entry has been selected as one of the best on the Internet as part of the Webby judging process. Less than 20% of entries in the Webby Awards are deemed Official Honorees. With thousands of entries in the Webby Awards each year, being selected as an Official Honoree is a notable achievement. There may be multiple entries (or no entries) in each category designated as an Official Honoree.
Calculating “Of the Year” Honors
The Webby Awards’ Agency, Network, Media Company, and Production Company of the Year will be determined via a point system established by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. In the case of Media Company and Network of the Year, The Webby Awards will use the information provided in “Parent Company” field at the time of entry to calculate which holding company receives the honor.
To determine Production Company of the Year, The Webby Awards will use the Production Companies listed in credits. The deadline for credits to be included in the Nomination Announcement is March 1, 2024.
Those in contention for one of these distinctions will be alerted at the time Nominees are announced; the winner will be announced with all other Webby Award Winners in May 2024.
Statuettes and Framed Certificates
Webby Award Winners and Webby People’s Voice Award Winners will receive a beautiful hand-casted Webby Statuette, the symbol of Internet excellence, and may purchase duplicate statuettes for clients, colleagues, or other team members involved in the entry. Nominees and Official Honorees may purchase custom framed certificates to commemorate their honor. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
