Honored as one of Newsweek's "Women Shaping the 21st Century," Tiffany Shlain is Founder and Ambassador of The Webby Awards and an award-winning filmmaker.
Tiffany founded the Webby Awards in 1996 and helped grow it into the most coveted international honors for the web and cultural happening. As creative director of The Webby Awards for its first nine years, Tiffany conceived of the five-word acceptance speeches, made original films and directed electric live awards ceremonies that have attracted former Vice President Al Gore, internet pioneer Vinton Cerf, artist Bill Viola, and actor Alan Cumming.
In 1998, Tiffany also co-founded The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, which today has 550 members and serves as The Webbys' judging body. In her current role as Ambassador, Tiffany is The Webby Awards' global representative to the public and media. In addition, she develops special events, white papers, and editorial projects in conjunction with The Webby Awards 10th anniversary.
Tiffany is an acclaimed screenwriter and film director. Her 8th film, "The Tribe", has won awards and was selected at Sundance & Tribeca 2006. Her previous films include: "Life, Liberty & The Pursuit of Happiness", (Sundance Selection 2003) and "Less is Moore" (2002), a profile of Intel founder Gordon Moore narrated by Harrison Ford.
A sought-after expert on the Internet's role in reshaping popular culture, business, and society, Tiffany appears on ABC, CNN, and NPR, and has been invited to lecture at institutions including keynotes at Stanford, MIT, and IBM.
