The 2022 Webby International Index

Where is great digital work made? We combed the four corners of the world, and through our data, to find the answer.
EXPLORE EACH COUNTRY

The Webby Awards is truly global. As the premiere international honor for Internet excellence, we’ve recognized the world’s best digital creators since 1997. Annually, The Webbys reviews work entered by companies and individuals from over 70 countries. Digital innovation can happen wherever Internet access is available. So we decided to find out where the world’s best digital work comes from.

The 2022 Webby International Index is a roundup of the countries, excluding the US, that achieved the most success in the 26th Annual Webby Awards. Ranked in top-to-bottom order, the index reveals both the countries and respective companies with the most Webby-recognized projects during the 26th Annual Webby Awards, across Webby wins, nominations and honors. Additionally, we’ve highlighted a few pieces of work by each company.

*The countries, as well as companies, are ranked in order of performance. Webby Award and People’s Voice wins were weighed more heavily in our calculations.

High-level Insights:

  • Germany snagged the top spot for achieving the most success during the 26th Annual Webby Awards. Agency Jung von Matt AG had the highest-scoring work in the country, after entering virtual experiences like Joytopia
  • While North America, Europe and Australia over-index in the competition, a few countries emerged as growing markets: Japan, New Zealand and Qatar entered a number of high-performing projects last season.
  • Across the international index, work with the most recognition was submitted by advertising agencies, media companies and game studios.
