NEW YORK, April 8, 2014 – The Epic Split (Forsman & Bodenfors), Real Beauty Sketches (Ogilvy Brasil), The Scarecrow (Creative Artists Agency) and The Next Big Thing with Samsung & Jay-Z (72andSunny) have each been recognized as Interactive Advertising & Media Nominees for the 18th Annual Webby Awards. Agency Nominees in the Online Film & Video categories such as A boy and His Atom (Ogilvy & Mather), Climate Name Change (Barton F. Graf 9000) and Canon – Project Imaginat10n (GREY) illustrate the ability of advertising agencies to engage consumers through Branded Content entertainment.
While Academy judges like Pereira & O’Dell’s PJ Pereira, Google Labs’ Iain Tait, Anomaly’s Suzana Apelbaum, R/GA’s Bob Greenberg, Wieden+Kennedy’s Colleen DeCourcy and McCann Melbourne’s John Mescal will select this year’s Webby Award Winners, Internet fans from all over the world will also help decide who takes home a Webby by voting in The Webby People’s Voice Awards. Last year, Internet voters from across the globe cast over two million votes. Voting is open now until 11:59 p.m. PST on Thursday April 24th at http://pv.webbyawards.com
With nine Webby Nominees, R/GA NY leads all agencies in nominations, and joins 72andSunny LA (8), McCann NY (6), and Ogilvy Paris (6), in primary contention for Webby Agency of the Year, presented to the agency that performs the best across all Webby Awards categories. Other Agencies with multiple nominations also in the running for the ultimate prize with four nominations each are Clemenger BBDO, Droga5, Mullen, and Pereira & O’Dell.
“The Nominees in the Interactive Advertising & Media category illustrate the exceptional creativity captivating audiences amidst an increasingly cluttered world of Online content,” said David-Michel Davies, Executive Director of The Webby Awards. “These distinguished Nominees not only exemplify the type of cleverness that invites consumers to engage with brands but encourages them to share content and connect with one another.”
This year’s Webby Awards received more than 12,000 entries from all 50 U.S. states and over 60 countries worldwide. From the thousands of global entries submitted to The Webby Awards, only 8% were selected as Nominees. Winners will be celebrated at a special ceremony held at Cipriani Wall Street on Monday, May 19th, hosted by critically acclaimed actor and comedian Patton Oswalt. This year’s show will be available on demand at www.WebbyAwards.com the morning of Tuesday, May 20th. The Webby Awards channel will feature all the show highlights, including special performances as well as the show in its entirety.
