The World’s Best Tasting Vodka and The Webby Awards Join Forces to Celebrate the Stories Behind Some of the Most Extraordinary Work on the Internet
NEW YORK, May 5, 2015— Today GREY GOOSE® Vodka and The Webby Awards announced the launch of “The Webby Fifty,” which recognizes the stories behind a select group of Internet visionaries. As part of this first-ever special series, The Webby Awards and GREY GOOSE worked with 50 Webby Award Nominees and Winners to tell their unique stories of creativity and entrepreneurship at www.webbyawards.com/webbyfifty.
Webby Fifty participants include Rus Yusupov, Co-Founder of Vine, Josh Rubin and Evan Orensten, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Cool Hunting, Piera Gelardi, Co-Founder and Creative Director, Refinery29, Jeff Raider, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Harry’s, and many more. In a series of profiles, video interviews, and other content, these entrepreneurs detail their inspirations, the challenges they’ve faced along the way, and the creative turning points that led to their success.
“The Webby Fifty offers Webby Winners a powerful new platform to tell their stories and for Internet enthusiasts around the world to benefit from their unique experiences,” said The Webby Awards Executive Director David-Michel Davies. “While our notorious five-word speeches have always been part of our Webby DNA, we hope this new tradition will serve to inspire ever greater creativity and innovation around the Internet.”
“We appreciate that it takes much more than just five words to delve into the creative process and are thrilled to give these individuals the stage to share their inspiring stories,” said Tom Swift, VP Managing Director of GREY GOOSE Vodka. “We are proud to celebrate these individual stories, who fearlessly challenge the status quo and pave the way for future innovators.”
The 19th Annual Webby Awards will be held at Cipriani Wall Street on Monday, May 18, hosted by critically acclaimed actor and comedian Hannibal Buress. This year’s show will be available to watch on www.webbyawards.com the morning of Tuesday, May 19. The Webby Awards video channel will feature all the show highlights, including special performances and all of the hallmark Winner 5-word speeches. Notable 5-word Webby speeches from past shows include street artist Banksy’s “Somebody painted over it,” Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti of Trigger Street Productions’ “The Oscars should do this,” and the inventor of the GIF file format Steve Wilhite’s declaration “It’s pronounced ‘JIF’ not ‘GIF.’” Guests at the Awards Show will also enjoy signature GREY GOOSE cocktails served throughout the evening, including the GREY GOOSE Le Fizz, the GREY GOOSE Epiphany, and a distinctive cocktail featuring the brand’s newest spirit innovation, the GREY GOOSE VX Martini Exceptionelle.
