(New York, NY) – April 30, 2013 – The prestigious Webby Agency of the Year honor was awarded to Tribal DDB Worldwide today, as The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) announced the winners of The 17th Annual Webby Awards. The Webby Agency of the Year Award is presented to the agency that earns the most Webby Awards wins and nominations across all categories. Tribal DDB garnered seven Webby Awards, one People’s Voice Award and ten nominations for their work with McDonald’s Canada including the Our Food. Your Questions. campaign from Tribal DDB Toronto; Deutsche Telekom with the “Move On” branded content campaign by DDB Tribal Group GmbH; and the Dutch airline KLM with the campaign KLM Be My Guest by DDB & Tribal DDB Amsterdam.

The 17th Annual Webby Awards and People’s Voice winners will be honored at the star-studded ceremony on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York. The Webby Awards ceremony will be hosted by critically acclaimed stand-up comedian, writer and actor Patton Oswalt and will be available to view in HD on watch.WebbyAwards.com beginning at 9 a.m. ET on Wednesday, May 22, 2013.

Tribal DDB prevailed over other agencies in contention for the Webby Agency of the Year honor, including McCann-Erickson Worldwide (10 wins, 2 nominations), R/GA (6 wins and 11 nominations), Wieden + Kennedy (7 wins and 5 nominations), and BBDO (3 wins and 9 nominations).

“We are excited to honor agencies that are evolving the way consumers and fans interact with brands online, on mobile, and with connected products,” said David-Michel Davies, Executive Director of the Webby Awards. “Year after year, we see agencies develop creative and innovative ways for brands to connect with consumers, and we are proud to recognize their work.”

The Webby Award winners are voted on by members of IADAS that include: R/GA founder Bob Greenberg, AKQA creative chief Rei Animoto, and Brazilian agency AgenciaClick’s Juilana Constantino. The Webby People’s Voice Awards are voted on by the online public setting a Webby Awards record with votes from over 200 countries and territories.

Beyond Online advertising campaigns, the 2013 Webby Award winners in the Interactive Advertising & Media category are recognized for their work across different online platforms, from social gaming on handheld devices to branded Online video and experience marketing.
