Steve Marchese has spent the last 15 years of his professional life living the mission he and his teammates have helped establish at the Webby Awards: “To identify and curate the best of the web and honor those who create it.”
In the late 90’s as a journalist (Flavorpill, XLR8R and Stash) and as a first-wave music blogger with his long-running blogĀ scissorkick.com, Steve’s columns and features identified the burgeoning nexus between motion graphics, web design and electronic music.
For five years prior to joining the Webby Media Group in 2006, Steve served as the Senior Producer and Manager at The One Club, where his main responsibility involved overseeing the production of The One Show, One Show Interactive and the growth of the then brand-new One Show Design and One Show China. He was brought in to the Webby Media Group to help grow The Webby Awards — which has over the last decade established itself as the leading international award honoring excellence in Web design, functionality and creativity.
As the Executive Producer at the Webby Media Group, not only has Steve led production duties on eight Webby Awards cycles, he has also been fortunate to lead a number of initiatives and launches like Internet Week New York, Internet Week Europe, The Lovie Awards, Architizer A+ Awards, Netted and a recent collaboration with NYC Digital, the Made in New York Digital Jobs Map.
Steve currently lives in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn with his wife Andriana and his 4-year old son Nicolas.
