Meet Our New Judges for the 24th Annual Webby Awards

The Webby Awards is judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS for short), comprised of 2,00+ of the Internet's most brilliant movers and shakers. Meet this year's newest member to our prestigious roster.

Every year, work entered into The Webby Awards is seen and judged by members of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS): a 2,000+ member body of Internet experts who devote their time to reviewing and choosing the very best.

As the Internet continues to grow and change, so does IADAS: and this year we are excited to welcome a range of new judges to lend their expertise.

Meet the new Judges:

 

Anne Wojcicki serves as the CEO and Co-Founder of 23andMe.

Wojcicki co-founded 23andMe in 2006 in hopes of empowering consumers and researchers with access to genetic information. With Wojcicki at the helm, 23andMe has made major strides in bringing personalized medicine to the public.

Fun fact: Not only has Wojcicki joined IADAS as a Webby Judge, but you can also catch her in the guest judges chair on the upcoming season of Shark Tank!

Rick Gomez is a member of Target‘s executive leadership team where he wears multiple hats in his capacity as executive vice president, chief marketing, and digital officer.

Gomez is responsible for overseeing marketing and media strategy, creative, and corporate responsibility efforts, in addition to heading up Target’s e-commerce business and the company’s digital strategy.

Sophia Amoruso is the Founder and CEO of Girlboss, a professional social network for ambitious women.

Amoruso has been named by Forbes as “Fashion’s New Phenom” and was featured on the cover of their June 2016 “Richest Self Made Women” issue.

She’s also the best-selling author of #GIRLBOSS; which has since been adapted into a 13-episode Netflix comedy series, starring Charlize Theron, with Amoruso as Executive Producer.

As president and CEO of PBS, Paula Kerger heads up the largest non-commercial media organization in the country, with over 350 member stations nationwide.

Under Kerger’s leadership, PBS has witnessed huge growth to its audiences across genres and platforms. What’s more, people watch an average of 255 million videos across PBS’ web, mobile and connected device platforms every month.

Fun fact: Kerger is the longest-serving president and CEO in PBS history!

Maurice Cherry is the head of media at Glitch and the host of Revision Path, a renowned podcast showcasing Black designers, developers, and digital creators from all over the world.

Previously, Cherry was principal and creative director at Lunch, an award-winning multidisciplinary creative studio in Atlanta. And he was included in The Root 100: an annual list of the most influential African-Americans ages 25 to 45.

Monica Lewinsky joins the Academy on the heels of her Webby win last year for #DEFYTHENAME: an anti-bullying campaign she created with BBDO NY.

If you follow Lewinsky on Twitter, you know that she has been actively working to end bullying for years. (And if you haven’t seen her TED Talk on shame, be sure to check it out.)

Bill Simmons is a master of all things sports media. The host of The Bill Simmons Podcast and founder of the popular sports-and-pop-culture site The Ringer, Simmons is also working with HBO to produce a range of content from video to podcasts, features, and documentary films.

You might also know him from Grantland, HBO’s Any Given Wednesday, his best-selling books The Book of Basketball and Now I Can Die in Peace… and lots of other brilliant media spaces.

Tiffany Rolfe is the EVP and Chief Creative Officer at R/GA where she champions creative vision across the agency.

Rolfe has been named one of Ad Age’s “Women to Watch” and she serves on the board of The One Club and the Ad Council Creative Committee. Following the 2016 election, she also worked with the ACLU leading brand identity and external campaigns.

Before starting Away, Rubio built her career as a branding, creative, and social media expert. (In other words, if there’s an awesome list, she’s probably on it.)
